In 1998, the farm was bought by husband-wife team Chip and Dianne Meyer. Along with their two daughters, the couple packed their bags and settled in the small mountain town of Aibonito. Just within a couple of months, Hurricane Georges leveled approximately 75% of the greenhouses. Although the damage was severe, the family picked themselves up and began to rebuild.
Twenty four years later, after several setbacks such as Hurricane Maria and the Covid-19 pandemic, Meyer Nurseries has become one of the largest orchid and ornamental plant farms in the Caribbean. With tough greenhouses, clean facilities, and impeccable quality, Meyer Nurseries brings flowers and plants to thousands of homes on the island each year. The farm has become a big part of the island’s community, providing jobs, beauty and ultimately, joy.
